You don’t know much about these plate chausses. They belonged to your commander and were undamaged in the battle that slew him. Commander Axehardt probably wasn’t the greatest leader and owed his position more to his parentage than to his skill at arms. He was an exceedingly nice guy, however.
The armored pants were the only thing that fit in the wake of the slaughter, and seeing as you were in desperate need of new nether coverings after a zombie crushed yours with a maul.
These chausses are a blend of metals. One part adamantine, one part mithral, and one part steel. There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to the crafting though. The smith just sort of muddled them all together. The adamant parts have silver inlay, while the mithral ones have brass inlay, and the steel parts have gold. All of the carving is perfunctory and incomplete in places.
It's almost as if the smith were as half-assed as your departed commander. For all you know he was the smith. There aren’t any markings. The pants do fit you well.
The Truth of the Lazy Angel
Even before the Quest for the Sky, there was an angel in Torag’s heaven that loved games more than he loved helping. He played all sorts of games: games of chance, athletic competitions, even simple wagers. If it was a fun challenge he was on it. But not his duties, and especially not his duties to the mortals he was meant to protect.
So The Father of Creation sent him to Golarion as a pair of armored pants. Until he helps a mortal achieve a great destiny he is condemned to this form.
The Obstinate Chausses can communicate telepathically with anyone in a 1-mile radius provided he has been in close proximity to that person previously. You pants can be quite chatty, but have several limitations Torag placed on him. He can not remember his name, he cannot take direct actions to help you, and he can’t help his lust for challenges. To whit: if you are challenged to a contest (a bet, game of chance, or a duel) you must succeed on a Will save (DC 15 + your level) or accept the wager before you can think about it.
While you slept one night your pants whispered a holy word to you. If you touch an Ally and speak the word they will be healed.
You don’t know this part yet, but you are now exceptionally fertile and have endlessly viable sperm. Any sexual encounters that could result in a child are likely to do so. Congratulations future-baby-daddy!
